Install SMTX OS on Physical Servers

Prerequisites

Check BIOS Settings

  1. In a web browser, log in to the out-of-band management platform. The account and password of the out-of-band management platform are provided by the hardware service provider.

  2. After login, select Virtual Console, then click Start Virtual Console to access the Virtual Console page.

  3. Select Power and then click Reset System (Hot Boot) in the Power Control page to restart the server.

  4. Press the F2 key during the server boot process, then select System Setup. In the System Setup page, select System BIOS.

  5. In the System BIOS Settings page, select Processor Settings. Make sure that you have enabled Virtualization Technology.

  6. Click Back to return to the System BIOS Settings page and then select System Profile Settings.

  7. In the System Profile Settings page, ensure that you have selected Performance for System Profile and disabled the power energy-saving mode.

  8. Click Back to return to the System BIOS Settings page and then save BIOS settings.

Mount and Install ISO Image

  1. In the Virtual Console page, select Connect Virtual Media.

  2. Mount the SMTX OS ISO image.

    In the Mapped CD/DVD option of the Virtual Media dialog box, click Select File to mount the SMTX OS ISO image. Once done, click Map Device.

  3. Boot the server from the virtual CD-ROM drive.

    In the Virtual Console page, select Boot, then select Virtual CD/ DVD/ ISO in the Boot Control option. Reboot the server.

  4. In the SMTX OS installation guide page, select Start Installation.

  5. Select the boot disk to install the boot partition. Enter a name for the boot disk.

  6. Select one or two SSD disks as the system disk. Enter a name for the system disk.

  7. Install SMTX OS. The installation is unattended, and the whole process takes approximately 30 minutes.

  8. When the installation is complete, the server will automatically reboot into the SMTX OS system.

    • Before deploying the cluster, you can log in to the SMTX OS node using the default username root and the initial password smartx.
