Be Prepared for the Changes of VMware
In late 2023 and early 2024, VMware by Broadcom officially announced the end of the sale of perpetual licenses and the simplification of its portfolios. At present, VMware by Broadcom basically offers four solutions: the vSphere Essentials Plus Kit (VVEP) and vSphere Standard (VVS) that target the lightweight virtualization needs of small and midsize businesses, and VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), which are enterprise-class solutions with more functionality. For some existing VMware users, these changes may result in a significant cost increase and a limitation in service customization. >>Learn more about VMware’s changes
Users may adopt different strategies to navigate these challenges. Whether you decide to exit from VMware or just “wait and see”, it’s always wise to start exploring potential VMware alternatives now to be prepared for future changes.

Replace VMware with SECP: Lightweight, Open, with Better Performance
To assist users in achieving a full-stack replacement of VMware while upgrading IT infrastructure, SmartX offers SmartX Enterprise Cloud Platform (SECP), a lightweight and open enterprise cloud powered by full-stack hyperconvergence infrastructure (HCI).

Currently, SmartX provides two VMware replacement solutions for users to choose from:
- Replacing VMware HCI (vSphere+vSAN) with SECP STD.
- Replacing VCF STD with SECP ADV.

Both SECP solutions provide more features and components than the original VMware solutions while increasing business agility, reliability, and cost efficiency. Also, based on the independently developed distributed storage, SECP provides better performance and stability than VMware solutions. >>Learn more: Three Performance Comparisons Disclose Why You Should Choose SmartX as a VMware Alternative
