Traditional Cloud Solutions Posing Multiple Challenges

Since proposing the "Digitalization, Financialization, and Internationalization" strategy in 2018, Mingri Holdings has prioritized digital construction and planned its cloud platform development. During the selection process, the company evaluated various models—including public cloud, physical servers, traditional virtualization, and OpenStack-based private clouds—but found they failed to meet operational and growth requirements due to stability fluctuations, high migration costs, heavy initial investment, unreliable core capabilities, and complex configurations. These challenges prompted Mingri Holdings to adopt a leaner, more agile, controllable, and scalable HCI to uniformly support the deployment and operation of its business middle platform, data middle platform, and peripheral systems.

"After several rounds of evaluation, we chose SmartX for several reasons. First, I highly value SmartX’s proven track record in the financial industry. Second, the system interface and operations are simple and intuitive. I believe a professional vendor should demonstrate depth rather than just breadth in their specialized field. In terms of the overall technical roadmap and future expansions based on hyper-converged technology, I am confident that SmartX offers superior professionalism."

From Pilot Projects to a Unified Private Cloud Platform

Mingri Holdings initially deployed a 5-node SmartX ECP cluster to support Phase I of the BIP platform, hosting nearly 200 virtual machines and various business systems including futures, HR, finance, and peripheral application testing environments. Following a surge in business volume, the company expanded the cluster by one node after four months, reflecting full confidence in the platform's performance and resource management. As the data middle platform transitioned into production, Mingri Holdings established a new independent 3-node cluster to isolate business and data middle platform workloads, preventing resource contention while ensuring stability and rapid response during high-concurrency scenarios. During the upgrade to BIP 5.0, core business systems were fully migrated to the SmartX ECP. A 4-node all-flash cluster was deployed as the third production cluster, utilizing optimized hardware configurations to guarantee system performance and eliminate software bottlenecks under continuously increasing business loads.

"Our project construction was as intense as a battle, requiring near-constant 24-hour service support. Application migrations often had to be executed around two or three in the morning, which was a significant undertaking. Our partnership with SmartX began in late 2019 and progressed to its third phase by 2021. This stage was critical for us as it coincided with our upgrade to the BIP 5.0 platform. Given our successful collaboration in the first two phases, we developed strong confidence in the SmartX's performance and comprehensive service support. Consequently, we chose SmartX again without hesitation for the third phase, migrating our entire business middle platform’s BIP architecture onto the third cluster."
