Building a Lightweight Private Cloud Based on the "Five Principles"

China Securities plans to transform its existing IT infrastructure, establishing five guiding principles: open architecture, software-defined capabilities, agile self-service, unified management, and diverse application scenarios. The company ultimately selected the SmartX Enterprise Cloud Platform as the core technical solution for its cloud transformation—its virtualization platform is open, integrates with existing VMware ESXi virtualization, and supports multiple server hardware platforms; Its self-developed distributed storage solution possesses deep technical stack troubleshooting and resolution capabilities.

Phase One: Resource Pool Architecture "Cloudification" Upgrade

From 2018 to 2020, China Securities first upgraded its proprietary storage hardware to a software-defined storage model and distributed architecture based on hyper-convergence. It then introduced SmartX's native virtualization solution ELF for partial production and development testing, establishing a virtualization technology reserve that complements its existing VMware infrastructure. This laid the groundwork for the next phase of technological transformation.

Phase Two: Cloud-Based Upgrade of IT Resource Utilization Methods

China Securities has established a unified CMP platform and cloud portal, leveraging the SmartX Enterprise Cloud Platform as a critical core computing resource. By integrating diverse computational resources, the platform enables streamlined self-service resource allocation, automated virtual machine provisioning, and metered resource usage, delivering highly efficient self-service capabilities.

Phase Three: Introducing Kunpeng and Haiguang Platforms to Build a Multi-Chip Cloud Architecture

In Phase I of the project, China Securities adapted the SmartX enterprise cloud platform to Kunpeng CPU chips. Concurrently, the enterprise cloud platform completed compatibility testing and mutual certification with mainstream domestic operating systems (Kylin, UnionTech), databases (TDSQL, Dameng, TiDB, Vastbase, etc.), and middleware (BES, Tong Tech). In Phase II, users further adapted the enterprise cloud platform for Hygon CPUs, achieving a "dual-chip cloud" architecture.

To date, China Securities has deployed over 600 enterprise cloud infrastructure nodes, including more than 90 hyper-converged innovation nodes based on Kunpeng CPUs and over 10 hyper-converged innovation nodes based on Hygon CPUs.

Phase Four: Achieving Zero Business Downtime in HCI OS Transition

As the transformation deepens, China Securities leveraged SmartX's self-developed conversion tool, combined with hyper-converged online upgrade and virtual machine live migration capabilities, to seamlessly transition the hyper-converged cluster operating system from CentOS 7 to openEuler without disrupting business operations or system downtime.
