SmartX is thrilled to introduce Enterprise Cloud Platform v6.2, delivering enhanced security, compliance, performance, and availability for enterprise users. This upgrade brings key features like data-at-rest encryption, VPC peering, unified security policies for Pods/VMs/IPs, NUMA binding, multiple authentication methods, and high-availability VPC gateways. With these enhancements, ECP ensures a secure, high-performance enterprise cloud experience.

Enhanced Security and Compliance

Support for Data-at-Rest Encryption: SmartX integrates with third-party Key Management Systems (KMS) to enable volume-level encryption using AES-256. It supports KMIP-compliant key management solutions like Thales, helping finance, government, and other regulated industries meet stringent data security and compliance requirements.

Enhanced Host Security: SmartX strengthens host security with IP whitelisting for specific ports, ensuring that only authorized IPs can access the host. This access control feature mitigates the risk of unauthorized access and enhances overall system protection.

Elevated Performance and Availability

CPU QoS: SmartX introduces CPU quota, reservation, and limitation settings for virtual machines, enabling precise control over shared CPU resources. Users can reserve CPU capacity or assign higher shares to ensure mission-critical workloads get more CPU resources during contention. Limiting a VM’s CPU usage can dynamically reduce resource requirements without reconfiguring vCPU counts.

NUMA Optimization: For virtual machines with exclusive CPU mode, SmartX optimizes CPU allocation by prioritizing CPU and memory assignments within the same NUMA node. This minimizes cross-node memory access latency, enhancing the performance of databases, middleware, and other latency-sensitive applications.

Optimized Snapshot Storage: SmartX improves snapshot efficiency by reducing storage footprint, lowering costs, and enabling enterprises to retain more snapshots and recovery points. This enhances data protection, compliance, and recovery capabilities.

Expanded Ecosystem Support

Hygon HCT Support: SmartX now supports Hygon HCT (Hardware Cryptographic Technology), enabling passthrough to virtual machines. This allows application-level data encryption without additional cryptographic cards, reducing encryption costs while ensuring security and regulatory compliance.

Expanded Hardware Compatibility: SmartX enhances hardware support by adding compatibility for completing validation with the Phytium S5000C CPU and NetSwift 10GbE network adapters with SR-IOV functionality.

Optimized Kubernetes Security

Unified Security Policies for Pods and VMs: SmartX’s distributed firewall now supports unified security policies for SMTX Kubernetes Service Pods and virtual machines. This provides universal control over communications between Pods and VMs—Pod-to-Pod, Pod-to-IP, and VM-to-VM—ensuring secure, flexible, and audit-compliant hybrid deploymets.

Enhanced Management Security

SmartX now enhances access security with:

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) via SMS, configurable with multiple global providers to meet regional compliance requirements.

Single Sign-On (SSO) using the SAML protocol, with default support for THALES STA and compatibility with other vendors upon request, ensuring alignment with enterprise security standards.

Advanced VPC Capabilities

SmartX enhances VPC networking with improved connectivity, scalability, and reliability. Key upgrades include VPC peering for seamless inter-VPC communication, multiple edge gateways for traffic distribution, and active-standby gateway groups for high availability. The VPC networking also supports BGP dynamic routing and north-south ACLs, strengthening network security and control. Additionally, real-time traffic visualization provides insights into data flow.

SmartX ECP v6.2 enhances security, performance, and availability, providing enterprises with a more resilient and efficient cloud infrastructure. With advanced security, optimized performance, and expanded compatibility, SmartX continues to drive enterprise cloud innovation. For more information, please send inquiries via the SmartX website.
